Program 04
Disaster Laptop Relief
A working computer can reconnect a household to employment, school, benefits, insurance and essential recovery services.
Purpose
Recovery Runs Through a Screen
After a disaster, almost every step of recovery happens online — FEMA applications, insurance claims, unemployment filings, school enrollment, telehealth appointments, replacement documents. A household without a computer is a household stuck at the back of every queue.
Laptop Relief places devices with disaster-affected households so they can do the work of recovery: email, job applications, schoolwork, video calls, online forms and access to disaster assistance programs.
What You Receive
- A working laptop — Windows, ChromeOS or Mac
- New, like new or professionally refurbished condition
- Configured for everyday recovery tasks
- Hardware support for covered issues during the stewardship period
- No cost to the recipient

Terms of Stewardship
Ownership & Responsibility
We use a stewardship model so that devices keep serving people who need them. The terms are short and we state them up front.
| Item | Terms |
|---|---|
| Ownership | C4I Veteran Services Corp retains legal ownership of the device for the first twelve months after delivery. |
| Transfer | After one year of compliance with these terms, ownership may be transferred permanently to the recipient. |
| Return option | If the device is no longer needed within the first year, the recipient may return it to C4I so it can be placed with another household. |
| Covered support | Hardware issues arising from normal use are covered during the stewardship period. |
| Not covered | Theft, loss, intentional damage, misuse, neglect and similar damage are excluded. |
| Replacement fee | A $100 laptop replacement fee may apply where the recipient caused excluded damage. |
